nominate, designate, name
这三个词都含有“任命”、“指派”之义。nominate表示正式“提名”某人或物候选某职位或奖项等,供当权者作最后决定。designate较正式,常用被动语态,表示被任命担任某职位或被指定用于某用途。name 较口语化,侧重表示结果,即宣布“任命”,所任命的职位往往是政治团体或政府部门的行政工作。试比较:
