except

1. except后面接动词时，常用不带to的动词不定式，除了在正式文体之外，人称代词在except后都要用宾格形式，即me, him等。例如：

He did nothing except complain.他除了抱怨还是抱怨。

Everybody understood it except him.除了他，别人都听懂了。

2. except, except for

和except for的基本意义相同，都可作“除外”解。二者区别在于：except为介词，意为“只此一个，没有别的”；而except for为复合介词，含有“要不是”之义。试比较：

Every paragraph in your article is well organized except the second one.除了第二段其他各段都组织得很好。

Your article is well organized except for the second paragraph.要不是第二段，你的文章是可以组织得很好的。

如果把except for放在句首，则往往可以与except换用。
