用法说明
suspend, defer, postpone
这三个词均可作“推迟”、“延缓”或“暂停”解。区别在于:postpone最常用,表示把某事推迟到某个明确的日期进行。例如:
The match was postponed to the following Saturday because of the bad weather. 比赛因天气不好而延期到下星期六进行。
defer强调推迟的主观因素,而且没有明确的期限。例如:
His military service was deferred until he finished college. 他服兵役的日期被延缓到大学毕业之后。
suspend侧重表示中途暂停,也可表示暂停学籍、会籍等。例如:
During the crisis, the constitution was suspended. 在危急时刻,该宪法曾暂时停止实行。
She has been suspended from the team. 她被责令暂停队籍。
