extend, stretch, spread
这三个词都含“延伸”、“伸展”之义。其区别在于：
extend表示“伸展某物”，“向前伸手”，含有伸展到所希望的程度之义，可引申为“扩大影响”，例如：
An eagle extends its wings when soaring.雄鹰展翅翱翔。
stretch表示“把某物撑开”、“伸展四肢”、“伸长脖颈”或“使从一处伸展到另一处”，引申为在法律、规章、权利等方面“超越了许可的范围”，例如：
The cornfield stretched for miles.那片玉米地延绵数英里。
spread表示“伸展四肢”、“使手臂伸开的距离尽量展宽”、“扩展覆盖面”，引申为“传播信息或疾病”、“扩大兴趣或影响”。例如：
