rescue, save, salvage

这三个词均可作“营救”、“解救”解。其区别在于：rescue表示迅速、竭力营救遇上危险的人，有时也表示抢救财物或采取措施抢救受到破坏的东西，例如：

He rescued the man from drowning. 他把那个快要淹死的人救上了岸。

The manager made a final attempt to rescue the company from bankruptcy. 经理做了最后的努力，以拯救公司，使之免于破产。

save比较常用，表示营救、搭救某人，使其脱离危险；也表示抢救财物等。save还可作“保护”解，或用作宗教用语，表示“拯救”。例如：

The doctors fought to save his life. 医生们竭尽全力挽救他的生命。

The use of good lighting helps save your eyesight. 使用好的照明设备有助于保护视力。

It is said that Jesus Christ came into the world to save us from our sins. 据说，基督降世是来拯救我们摆脱罪恶的。

salvage通常表示从灾难中抢救财物，例如：

We were unable to salvage anything when the factory burnt down.工厂已经烧毁，我们无法抢救出任何东西。
