用法说明
lift, elevate, hoist, raise, rear
lift, elevate, hoist, raise和rear都表示“举起”、“提起”。
lift表示(用力)向上举起某物，引申为表示“提高(地位)”或“提起(精神)”，例如：
lift one's hat举起帽子
A drink will lift your spirits.喝点酒可提神。
elevate用于表示“提起”物体，较为正式高雅，宜换用raise。其引申义表示级别或声誉等的提高，例如：
Reading good books elevates your mind.读好书可以使心灵升华。
hoist表示提、举起沉重的物体，尤指在船上用绳索、滑轮等机械装运货物，例如：
The car was hoisted aboard the ship.车被吊上了船。
raise侧重表示把某物竖立起来，或把某物提升到一定的高度，其引申义为“提高(价值、效率等)”，例如：
raise a sunken ship to the surface of the sea把沉船吊出海面
rear可与raise换用，表示使动物用后腿直立起来，例如：
The horse reared as the fire engine dashed past.消防车疾驰而过，马惊得前腿立起来。
