neither，neither of, none of, nor

1. neither用于没有冠词、物主词或指示词的单数名词之前，动词用单数；而neither of则用于名词带有冠词、物主词或指示词的情况，名词是复数，而动词可以是单数或(在非正式文体中)复数。试比较：

Neither parent realized what was happening.父母亲都没有意识到发生了什么事。

Neither of his parents realized what was happening.他的父母都没有意识到发生了什么事。

2. neither of 和none of 均含否定意。neither只能用来指两个；而none是指三个或三个以上，后接复数名词，动词用单数或复数(多用于口语)。试比较：Neither of my two sisters is/are in Shanghai.我的两个姐姐没有一个在上海。

None of my three sisters is/are in Shanghai.我的三个姐姐没有一个在上海。

3. neither和nor均为否定连词,用在句子(和简略答语)的开头，表示“也不…”，后面跟倒装语序。在这样的结构中，neither 和nor 意思大体相同，nor 在正式文体中用得较少。试比较：

He could not read nor could he write.他目不识丁，读写都不会。

He could not read, (and) neither could he write.他目不识丁，读写都不会。
