observe, notice, perceive, discern, note
这些词均有“发觉”、“注意到”之义。其区别在于observe侧重表示仔细观察或注视；notice侧重表示偶然或无意识地看到、听到或觉察；perceive较为正式，强调对所见人或物有所领悟或认识；discern一般表示隐约地看到(常含“尚能辨明和分清”之义)；note侧重表示注意到并记住，有时表示在讲话或写文章时特意提到以引起别人的注意。试比较：
Galileo observed the stars with his telescope.伽利略用他的天文望远镜来观察星星。
