persuade,talk
His mother has persuaded him into working hard.
His mother has tried to persuade him into working hard.
Please try and persuade her not to come with us.
在表达“劝服某人做(或不做)某事”之义时,还可用talk sb. into (或out of) doing sth.,例如:
He talked his father into lending him the car.
I tried to talk her out of leaving.
