hardly, scarcely, barely, no sooner
除了no sooner后跟than引导的从句外,hardly,scarcely和barely都后跟when引导的从句,并且基本可以换用。
I had hardly/scarcely/barely arrived when I had a new problem to cope with.
I had no sooner closed the door than somebody started to knock on it.
Hardly/scarcely/barely had I arrived when I had a new problem to cope with.
No sooner had I closed the door than somebody started to knock on it.
