1. (又读 shéi) who

2. (used in rhetorical questions) who

♦ ~不说他好？ Who wouldn't speak well of him?

3. someone; anyone

♦ 有~能帮助我就好了。 If only someone would help me!

♦ 我没跟~说话。 I didn't talk to anyone.

♦ 你要找~吗？ Are you looking for someone?

4. (used before 都 or 也) everyone; anyone

♦ ~都喜欢他。 Everybody likes him.

♦ ~也不要。 Nobody wants it.

5. (repeated in two phrases) whoever

♦ ~先到, ~先吃。 Whoever arrives first will eat first.

♦ 大家看~合适就选~。 You may elect whoever you think is suitable.

6. (used both before and after a verb, indicating that one person does sth. to another)

♦ ~先到~等着。 Whoever arrives first should wait for the other.
