这两个词都含有“认识”，“认知”之义。identify指通过鉴别来认明身份或特征。
recognize指根据外表、声音、气味、味道等特征，认出原来已经认知的人或物。试比较：
His accent was difficult to identify.很难确定他说话时带有哪儿的口音。
