detach, disconnect
这两个词都表示“使分开”或“使分离”。
detach表示“分离”完整的物体,使分离后的部件保持原本独立性,也表示与抽象物体的“分离”,例如:
The workers detached the locomotive from the train.工人们把机车与列车脱开。
In the past few years, she learned to detach herself from the world.在过去的几年里,她学会了超脱。
disconnect表示使相连的物体“分离”,表示“挂断”电话时,只能用disconnect,例如:
I disconnected the lamp from the wall.我把灯从墙上卸了下来。
They got disconnected in the middle of a sentence.他们话说到一半,电话就断了。
