man

1. man可以用来指“人类”，前面不加a或the，而且多用单数形式，例如：

Man is destroying the environment. 人类正在破坏环境。

kind泛指全人类，不可数。

2. 很多人反对用man和mankind指全人类，认为这样表明男人比女人重要，他们倾向于使用humans或者human beings, people, the human race等来泛指男人和女人，例如：

abilities found in humans在人身上发现的能力

unemployed people失业的人们

此外，在一些合成词中，如chairman, spokesman, salesman等，也尽量避免man的出现，而使用chairperson, spokesperson和salesperson等。

3. as a man表示“就人品而论”，而as one man表示“像一个人一样”讲，例如：

As a man he is superior to all of them.就人品而论，他要比他们都出众。

We plunged in after him as one man.我们跟在他后面一拥而入。
