near
1. near, nearer, nearest
三者都可以用作介词，不带to。而在更多情况下，nearer和nearest是和to连用的。当谈论的不是具体的东西或地理位置的接近时，near一般要与to连用。试比较：
He lives near the station.他住在车站附近。
I tried to get nearer to him.我试图向他靠近些。
I came very near to hitting him.我几乎要揍他。
2. near, close
两者的意思为“近”时，不能直接用在名词前。除在a near miss或the near future等短语中以外，near不可用作定语。near, near to或close to都可直接用在名词前，说明某人或某物几乎处在某种状态。
